Hi there brilliant folks, and welcome back to another written blog. Another vlog will be posted soon, and I am sure we will do another funky Friday workout soon! We are all full of Christmas cheers, though we are "ho ho hopeful" that you are staying as warm as can be expected!
We have recently employed a lovely young man called Shaun. Neil my colleague spotted his potential instantly from the fantastic club called nightlife in the heart of Bolton. Shaun has Downs syndrome, though as you will discover, his challenge, along with all of our other candidates and employees, it doesn’t impede him, it defines him positively. Shaun’s father Paul was a bit defensive and protective at first, though when he heard of the amazing work we have done and are striving to continue to do, his attitude gradually softened.
My first question to Sean was, what made you get involved in Ethical Clarity? The Ethical Clarity part of the business is where people pick and pack the soaps and shower gels to be distributed to customers. Shaun told me it was the nightlife, and I also suggested that Paul his dad was involved in the interview since I felt he was pivotal in Shaun being in the positive place he is now.
My next question was, what do you like about Ethical Clarity? Shaun and his dad spoke in unison, and said “Everything! He gets up early in the mornings now, and it's brilliant to see how well he seems, he is so happy.” This was from his father. I then emphasised what a joy it is to see our children happy. If they are happy, you're happy, and that's all we can ask of our children, as a father, Paul couldn't agree more. I then asked what Shaun's role was, and he said, "Picking and moving the boxes. I did work with Patrick see earlier blog on PTSD to Dignity, though he's been poorly, everyone is so nice to talk to and work alongside."
As part of our Talent and Skills Checklist, I asked him what would a positive tagline be. Shaun's dad gave a very interesting answer to this! "I think Shaun doesn't need a tag line, because he’s a positive person anyway. He’s positive through and through!” It made me think and I have to agree.
I then asked Shaun what would he do if he won a million pounds and he said he would use the money to help disabled charities. Shaun laughed and said, "I'd spend some of it on myself"
It was an interesting interview with Shaun and his dad, and it made my day! Thanks, Shaun and Paul, and we'll see you all next week! Stay warm if you can folks, and eat mince pies!
We love to change lives and feel the vibes!
